Yeats were appointed to create a high-quality hotel concept. The urban design and architecture of the hotel was specifically designed to respond with a contemporary interpretation to the conservation area whilst creating a visually interesting building.
As part of the plans, the building has strongly marked horizontal bands subdividing the massing along its height and each zone has a variation in the tone of brickwork. As the building gets taller, the brickwork gets lighter.
The design of the building is inspired by local historic buildings but creating a contemporary response and reinterpretation.
